TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning, everyone. And once again, how are you?

And welcome to another live this morning. Love having you on and love when you can say hello thanks to all our dear followers and friends.

We appreciate it big time. Okay, a question was asked why?

Okay, so we're still on Q&A because I got a question and I missed it yesterday. I've got IBS.

I've got an irritated gut. Dr. Martin, why? Okay, well, there's possibly a lot of reason.

Okay, yesterday we spent some time in our Q&A on SIBO. Well, the world calls it SIBO, but those of us who are in the know call it SIBO, small intestine fungal overgrowth.

Okay, but let me just talk about the gut in general. You know what?

When your gut is bothering you, it ain't no fun. So when you have heartburn and bloating and constipation or diarrhea, abdominal pain, cramping, indigestion, all of these things, okay, are no fun.

When your gut ain't working, it's a problem. And let me answer why we see so much IBS today, so much inflammatory bowel disease, so much Crohn's.

Okay, why do we see so much of that? Why do we see so much ulcerative colitis?

Why do we see so much diverticulosis? Well, let me give you several reasons.

The world has changed. Now, gut problems have been around a long time.

Okay, Paul told Timothy to take a little bit of wine for his stomach. Timothy had digestive issues.

And why do we have so much today? It's up 10, 20, 30 fold today compared to what it used to be.

What's changed? Okay, what's changed?

Well, guys, think about it. What have we changed?

What has man changed in the last several years? We changed our oil.

Okay, we've gone from good oils like omega threes to a very high omega six in the form of seed oils. Seed oils, everything you see in the middle aisles of your grocery store pretty well, contain what they call seed oils.

They're very high on omega six. That creates an imbalance and especially hits your gut.

Okay, so what is the world done? They changed the oil went from good oil, good fat, eggs, meat, and cheese.

That's good fat guys. And olive oil and coconut oil and butter.

The world went from that to mostly seed oils. Canola.

I saw canola growing the other day, not far out of Sudbury. Canola, Canada's gift to the world.

We gave you canola oil. Okay, and it's highly processed and very inflammatory.

So is soy, probably the one that is used the most in fast food restaurants. They cook the chicken and whatever, the fries and all that in a bad oil guys.

We have changed the oil. It creates an inflammatory response in our gut everywhere else too.

Number two, what have we changed? We changed our sugar.

Okay, we went to high fructose corn syrup and that is the sugar of choice. That affects the gut.

That affects the gut because the gut, when the gut gets high fructose corn syrup, first of all, when it's fructose, it goes right off to the liver. But when it goes through the gut and it doesn't get processed there, it irritates the gut because the gut doesn't know really what it is.

High fructose corn syrup is made by man. That can irritate the gut.

Plus, it feeds fungus. It feeds yeast.

We change the oil. We change the sugar.

We change the flour. Flour now, it's devoid of most vitamins and minerals.

It's highly processed flour. That's changed.

The gut is irritated easily with that. The amount of gluten today compared to what it used to be, has now become a problem.

I say gluten, shmootin because a lot of people think it's just gluten but it's those other things that I talked about. Okay, so we changed the sugar.

We changed the oil. We changed the flour.

The flour is not the same. Bread became the first fast food because it became processed.

They'd processed bread. They used to use pounding of the flour and all the nutrients were there.

And then they went to rollers and then you got processed food. The gut is affected by that.

That's why we see so much more. Those are some of the reasons.

Now, let me give you some more. You know this because I talk about this all the time and that is the overuse of antibiotics.

The overuse. Antibiotics, what they do, they carpet bomb your gut.

They carpet bomb it. It's one of the reasons we see so much autoimmune disease like Crohn's today.

Anytime you hear of or see autoimmune, think of gut because that's where it starts. And one of the biggest factors of that is kids taking antibiotics.

In five days, you carpet bomb that whole microbiome and you set people up for what we call a dysbiosis, the invasion of yeast because they're not enough friendly bacteria like antibiotics, antiseptics.

You know, so that's a big thing. I talk about that all the time.

And then you have the environment that you and I live in. You can run but you can't hide.

Okay? You can run but you can't hide.

You just can't get away from all the plastics and the microplastics and the toxins, 100,000 chemicals in the world today that weren't here 100 years ago. That affects the gut.

Microplastics, they're everywhere. They're in the air, they're in the water, they're in the soil.

You can run but you can't hide. Okay?

Like the BPAs and that. Here's another one.

Too much fiber brought to you by the cereal companies. That's who started it.

Who started the fiber craze? Cereal companies.

Dr. Kellogg's.

Okay? You need fiber.

Don't have bacon and eggs in the morning. Have our cereal.

Okay? Brought to you by frosty flakes are better than bacon. No, they're not.

Dr. Martin, if I don't have my oatmeal, I'm just not going to be able to go to the bathroom and have a number two. Well, let me give you what number one is.

You're eating too much fiber. Well, Dr. Martin, what about, what about the butyrate?

Well, you know what the highest source of butyrate is? You know what it is? It's butter.

It's not cereal. It's not fruits and vegetables.

It's butter. Yeah.

Eat butter. But guys, this is why the gut is so much more irritated today.

Why do we see so much of it? Why do we see so much IBS?

Why do we see so much IBD? Why do we see so much CFO?

Why is there so much? Well, those are the reasons.

Those are the reasons. Okay.

And remember, here's my protocol. Here's what you do with your gut.

Change your diet. Get off the sugars.

Yep. Makes a big difference.

Lower your fibers. I'm not saying you eliminate fiber, but lower it.

And the best fiber in the world, guys, the best fiber in the world is coffee. So drink coffee for your gut and lay off the sugars because they're feeding the yeast, the fungus, the overgrowth.

Okay. Probiotics.

Probiotics. Don't leave home without them.

If you've got a sunburn in your gut, like your gut's irritated, like be very careful, especially with fiber, but you need probiotics to renew and regenerate and replenish. And you know, can you overdose on a probiotic?

Nope. You can't.

We're not even talking billions of bacteria. You're talking trillions of bacteria that your body needs.

Replenish the gut. Probiotics.

Coffee. Water.

H2O. You need water.

Cleanse. Okay.

Digestive enzymes. You know what?

Most people don't have enough digestive enzymes. They don't make enough anymore.

They're protease and amylase and lipase. I love bone broth or anything that elevates your L-glutamine.

Those are all things that really help the gut. Okay.

That really helped the gut. Your mucilages, like slippery element, things like that, that really helped with the lining of the gut.

Okay. Good question.

It was a good question. Why do we see so much trouble with the gut today?

Those are the main factors. And I'm sure we'll talk about it again, because it's a big, big problem.

And we got a big problem because the other thing is way too much acids are being used. How does that affect your gut?

Well, you start your whole digestive process in your mouth and then to your stomach. And the stomach pH, this is a big problem today, because people are eating way too much from the plant kingdom and from the non-animal kingdom.

And we don't have enough acid in our stomach. The pH goes up.

You don't break your food down properly. That's a big problem today, even in the gut.

Okay. This is a new study on cancer.

So let's talk about that, including colon cancer. Speaking of the gut, one of the fastest growing in terms of numbers, cancers, is colorectal cancer.

And you know what's shocking about it? Is it's the age of that cancer.

Colorectal cancer used to be an old man's disease, not anymore in young people. Okay.

In young people. But here's the diagnosis are the risk of getting cancer.

Okay. And they looked at it historically.

In the 1900s, one out of 30 people in their lifetime would get a diagnosis of cancer. And usually deadly.

By 1990, it was one out of five. What changed?

One out of 30 to one out of five by 1990. I've been around long time guys, born in 1952.

Okay. In 1995, it changed again.

So in 1990, it went from one out of five to 1995 to one out of four. And then we hit a new centennial.

We hit the 2000s. And guess what?

Cancer diagnosis. Look at the person next to you.

Either you are the person next to you is going to be diagnosed with cancer since the year 2000. Shocking.

Shocking. What cancer is really taken off in my lifetime guys?

In my lifetime. Well, I'm going to even say it more in my practice days of 50 years.

Okay. Just about just about 50 years of seeing patients.

Okay. Do you know that breast cancer in the 1974 one out of 20 women got breast cancer?

Do you know what it is today? Yeah, around one out of six.

It's crazy. Prostate one out of 20 when I was in school in the 70s.

One out of two after the age of 50. Be diagnosed with prostate cancer men.

Some have said then maybe part of that is true. We know how to detect cancer much better than they did, you know, 50 years ago, yeah, come on.

Okay. That's a factor because medicine is into detection, not prevention.

I'm into prevention. Okay.

So when we look at the world and some of this goes back to what we talked about even in the gut and what causes so much gut problems today comparatively. Why is there so much cancer today?

Well, some of it that I'm going to talk to you is similar to what increases gut problems. But remember this about cancer.

Okay. Remember this about cancer.

You know this. The world need cancer cells.

Okay. If I was to draw up a cancer cell, I did that one time.

Want me to do it again? Cancer cells, use it in your mind's eye here.

Okay. Normal cell, cancer cell.

Put little antennas on cancer cells. They have 10 times cancer cells have 10 times more receptors for insulin than normal cells do.

Have you ever heard of insulin on this program? Cancer cells, 10 times more receptors for insulin than an ordinary cell.

Hello. Wake up out there.

I'm not talking to my audience because you guys know this, but I'm talking to the world out there as much as they will listen. You and cancer loves sugar.

And we know that because a PET scan doesn't and PET scans are not for your pets. They're cancer imaging and cancer cells love glucose and they have a receptor for insulin.

So anything that turns to sugar rapidly, cancer cells love that. Cancer cells love speed.

What? Well, the speed at which carbohydrates are broken down into sugars.

Cancer loves speed, not the drug speed. The food speed.

I just made that up. I hope you like it.

That's how my mind thinks. But guys, you can't always prevent cancer.

There's no guarantee that you will never get a diagnosis of cancer. Okay.

We live in a world, yeah. But one thing we know with cancer, cancer cells are different and they need fuel and they have different receptors.

Okay. So one thing we gotta do is cut down on sugar and cut down on those carbs that turn to sugar rapidly.

You're just feeding cancer cells and they grow, grow, grow. And one thing that fights cancer, the number one thing that fights cancer, negative, don't eat sugar, the sun.

And when you get a lack of it, vitamin D, because your T cells, your natural killer cells in your body, they depend on sunlight, sun. And when you can't get the sun, get your vitamin D levels, your D-hydroxy-25, get it up there, my friend.

It's a cancer fighter. Okay.

And this is very important, very important. Okay.

I mean, you know, obviously, you gotta go through the basics and why? Because I'm a why guy.

If there's so much more cancer today than there used to be, think of our environment again. We already talked about it in the gut.

We live, you and I, you and me. We live in a toxic soup.

You ain't getting away from it. You can live in Costa Rica.

You can live on an organic farm and the rest of the world not allowed. Good for you.

I like that. Good for you.

But guys, even there, even there, you can't get away from all the talk that we just live in a toxic soup, guys. It's just part of life.

And I'm not saying let's not protect our environment or let's, you know, let's try and change things and it's not going to happen in your lifetime, nor mine. Okay.

We can make things better, but you can't change everything. But what you can do, and this has been my emphasis for a long time.

Okay. It's the oxygen, the oxygen mass coming out of the ceiling in your airplane in the event that we lack oxygen when you get on a plane and we get up there and there's a lack of oxygen.

Okay. What does the stewardess say?

Don't worry, the oxygen mass will come out of the ceiling automatically. Okay.

And then it says put yours on first. You can't help anybody else till you help yourself.

And this is what I talk about when I talk about taking care of yourself. You can't take care of your family until you take care of you.

You do it first. Okay.

Guys, I have a big audience. I got a big audience.

Millions of downloads on our podcasts. 93,000 people on Facebook following me.

That's you guys, by the way. But you know what?

One person at a time for cancer. You have to take care of your immune system.

I said it during COVID. Don't worry about the virus.

There will always be viruses around. You know, don't leave it to public health because they'll find a virus if they have to, to scare the living life of other people.

What did I say during that time? Take care of yourself.

Take care of your immune system. God gave you an immune system.

Take care of it. Build it up so that you can be a fighting machine.

Take care of yourself. Eat right.

Eat some eating cheese. Okay.

I'm not even telling you to leave the planet. Telling you to take care of yourself.

And guys, I try and practice what I preach. Anybody that's ever known me, they know me.

And I ain't just preaching. When I preach, I stick a finger out at you and I got one, two, three pointed back at me.

You got it? You got the memo?

The risk of being diagnosed with cancer today. My word.

What a world we live in. But it's the way it is, guys.

Okay? It's the way it is.

Take care of yourself. And the first place to start is what you put in your mouth every day.

The choices you make in the kitchen. It starts with you.

Starts with you. Oh, I was having fun today.

Okay. Here we go.

Okay. So guys, tomorrow is Canada Day.

Okay. Canada Day tomorrow.

Am I on? Yep.

I'm on. Tomorrow morning.

Same time. Same station.

Okay. Canada Day, but we're on tomorrow.

Okay. When is July 4th?

What is the 250th anniversary for my American friends on Saturday? Well, we won't be on Saturday, but we'll be on Friday.

Lord willing. Okay?

Okay, guys, we loved you guys so much. Thanks for being the greatest audience in the world.

I got that audience. The greatest. The smartest. The ones that know the most.

My audience. I'll put them up against any audience.

Any podcast audience anywhere at any time. I'll put my guys numeral uno. That's you.

Love you. Talk to you soon.
