TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning, everyone. Once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a great start to your day. We appreciate you guys so very much and thanks for coming on.

Okay, guys, I'm going to bring you something in the news and I am going to talk about, okay, because today, okay, today, maybe you've heard this and maybe you haven't. They're bringing Dr. Fauci up before Congress. He's going to testify today in the Senate.

And I don't think it's going to be very pretty because they have his diary and what he was saying publicly and what he was saying privately are two different things. Anyway, I don't want to get into Dr. Fauci too much. I just want to make a point.

Okay, because if you guys have been following me for any length of time on this podcast, The Doctor is in, when we were going through COVID, I talked about the elephant in the room. Do you remember that? And the reason I bring this up, okay, the reason I bring it up is because it's still the elephant in the room.

It's still the elephant in the room. Never mind COVID, okay, because it was the elephant in the room in COVID. Anybody, just about anybody that got seriously ill and hospitalized had metabolic syndrome. They had pre-existing conditions.

Never mind if the virus came out of the Wuhan lab in China or whatever. I mean, all of that will be talked about today, I'm sure. But the whole point, in my opinion, the whole point of that time we went through in COVID, the mask, the social distancing, six feet, it was made out of nothing. There was absolutely no science behind the mask.

And guys, you know that because I was talking about it. I couldn't get over how we were told to stay inside and don't meet with other people. And they actually, in Florida, because I was there, they closed the stinking beaches when it's exactly what we needed. If they had given out vitamin D and did nothing else and just gave everybody vitamin D, it would have been better than anything.

But they didn't, you know, anyway, doesn't matter. Okay, here's what I'm talking about the elephant in the room, because I want to bring this out, because it's connected. And yesterday, we got stats on Canadian health care costs. It ain't pretty.

It ain't pretty. Okay, this is last year, we spent in Canada, not on our health care system, though we don't have a health care system. We call it that, but it's a disease care system. And in the United States, it's a disease care system.

And as long as we don't have a paradigm shift in that, guys, it's unreal what it costs. Okay, I'll give you an example. Because this came out yesterday. In Canada, they spent $399 billion, $400 billion on health care last year.

You know what that comes out average? $9,626 per person in Canada. It ain't free. And it's not the best.

Okay, it's not free, because we always boast about that in Canada. It doesn't cost us anything. Oh, sure it does. Okay, sure it does.

It costs us $10,000 per person. So you're paying it in taxes, you're paying it at the gas station, you're paying it when you go and HST and all this stuff that we pay. They got to pay from something. But again, as long as we have that in our crawl, you know, waiting times are crazy in Canada to see a specialist and all this and that.

Listen, I worked in the system. I understand. But guys, I'm telling you something. The elephant in the room is the same elephant that was in the room of COVID.

Okay? And I was John the Baptist in the wilderness screaming, screaming. Because the answer wasn't a vaccine. The answer wasn't a mask.

The answer wasn't social distancing. The answer wasn't closing the schools and you can't go visit grandma. That wasn't the answer. The answer is you and me taking care of our immune system and taking care of our health.

Because the elephant in the room, even today, is metabolic syndrome. Now guys, I'm telling you, look, you're always going to have bacteria. You're always going to have viruses. And you know what?

We're always going to have them. There's going to be something new coming down the pike and it won't be long. We'll have another virus. If nothing else, we got another flu season coming.

Okay? And I brought this to you when, it was last week, we learned this through COVID. The flu shot doesn't work. Okay?

This came out of Britain. The flu shot don't work if you're obese. Your immune system doesn't work properly if you have metabolic syndrome. And metabolic syndrome leads to a catastrophe in chronic diseases.

Like Dr. Kraft, not Kraft Dinner. Dr. Kraft, who died, I don't know, 10 years ago, maybe.

But was the father of diabetes. And you know what he said? Look, you're on the road to diabetes. There is no such thing as pre-diabetes.

He said, you're either diabetic or you're not. And he said, you're not waiting for the diagnosis for your blood sugar to go up to a certain level before a doctor says you're diabetic. No, you're on the road to that many, many years, 10, 15 years ahead of time. And we call that metabolic syndrome and you can test for it.

But doctors don't know it. Here we are in 2026 and what did we learn from COVID? You know what we learned? Nothing.

We didn't get any lessons. Now my audience has, because you guys got the memo. You can't control everything in life, but you got to take care of yourself. And if you need the healthcare system, you know, you get hit by a bus.

You need the healthcare system. I get it. Of course, that's what it should be for. But we're spending all our money, guys.

Let me give you an example. These are just costs that came out three or four years ago on individual treatment. Let me give it to you here. Okay.

The price of healthcare, okay, has gone up crazy. And this is annual costs in the United States alone. Diabetes, just to treat diabetes, not to fix it, to treat the complications of diabetes in the United States on the most recent dollar amount, $100 billion a year. What a beat.

Diabetes is expensive, guys. The complications of it is crazy expensive. Okay. Heart disease, $88 billion a year.

For every new cancer patient that goes into the system, this is an American statistic, okay, for every new cancer patient that enters the system for cancer treatments, it costs on average, everyone, $100,000 a year. $100,000 for every patient that enters the cancer treatment system. Because it's not prevention, guys.

It's detection, then treatment. Heart disease, detection, treatment. Diabetes, detection, treatment. Not prevention.

And heart disease, remember now, because there's a direct line. When you have metabolic syndrome, meaning that your cells are resistant to insulin, you're on the Titanic. You can measure it. Anything above 5.4 in A1C, okay, you should be below it, but if you're above it, you have insulin resistance.

It's just the way it is, guys. It's just the way it is. And that puts you on the Titanic. You got to do something about it.

And we don't bury guides on the doctors in. We do not bury our heads in the sand. We want reality. We want the truth, okay?

We don't have all the answers, but we have some of them, okay? So the elephant in the room in our disease care system, the heart disease that is worse than ever, cancer worse than ever, Alzheimer's worse than ever. It's all worse. Autoimmune worse than ever.

Because we don't talk prevention, guys. We talk detection and treatment. And treatment is very expensive, very expensive. Nothing is free.

Nothing is free. So the elephant in the room is metabolic syndrome because you don't get heart disease without metabolic syndrome. You don't get cancer without metabolic syndrome. You don't get Alzheimer's without metabolic syndrome.

Obviously, you don't get diabetes. Every one of those disease I talked about, all roads are diabetic roads. People just don't know it because they wait diabetes, the official diabetes. Guys, you know this.

We talk about this all the time. Diabetes is the last thing to happen in your body. Your body is dedicated, dedicated, dedicated to keep your blood sugar low. Your body is smarter than any doctor there is in the world.

Your body knows that sugar is toxic. Your body knows it. It's just we don't know it. Your body dedicates itself to keep your blood sugar low.

24 hours a day, keep sugar out of your bloodstream. A little witty, teensy weensy yellow polka dot bikini of sugar is left in your bloodstream because you don't need it parking there. And when it parks there, insulin must react to it. And it takes sugar and puts it in either the Costco parking lot because there's no room in your muscle.

And when the Costco parking lot, your liver gets full, it makes new parking spots because it's a fat building hormone. And it's all to save your life. Obesity is to save your life from diabetes because sugar is destructive. I'm not saying it's a good thing to pack on fat.

I'm just telling you that's what your body does in order that you don't destroy your blood vessels and your nerves from diabetes. It's the elephant guys in the room. And I know every day we somehow hit on metabolic syndrome. I can't help myself guys.

I can't help myself. If you have metabolic syndrome, your immune system doesn't work properly. This is why I always, always started with food in my office. I always started with food.

You gotta eat. Eat this. Don't eat that. Eat this.

Don't eat that. Well, Dr. Martin, that's hard. You bet your boots.

It's not easy. We're surrounded by food. We live in a world, like think of my grandfather who started the Martin Clinic in 1911. They had ice cream too, but they didn't live on that.

They didn't live on carbohydrates. They didn't live on processed foods and hyper-processed food. You know, there was no McDonald's. I hate to pick on them, but you know what I mean by that.

Like my grandfather, he didn't even know what that was. And my grandfather, there wasn't anyone that told my grandfather not to eat an egg because of cholesterol, not to eat bacon because of cholesterol. Nobody said that. Well, Dr.

Kellogg's might have said it, but they weren't buying it. So guys, I'm just saying what we know today. I mean, when I heard, you know, they're bringing Fauci into it, it's not that I want to go and ask them questions. It's just, I wish they would talk about metabolic syndrome, the elephant in the room.

Because here we are today. We're six years out from the world closing down and we haven't learned the lesson of it. We spend more money in Canada on disease care and it's not working. Guys, we don't need more doctors.

I know, I know, I know. We're short of doctors. I know, I know, but it's not the solution, guys. We don't need more hospitals because if you talk to a politician, well, we need more doctors.

We need more hospitals. No, what we need is you become a doctor. And when you need an MD, well, then you go to them. But you got to be your own doctor.

You, as an individual, have to understand some basics. Education. And we should do it. We should start in the schools on education.

That the body was never meant to consume 200 pounds of sugar a year. I've been screaming this since the 1970s, guys. I'd love to go and testify in front of Congress. I would, as a Canadian, ask me, what's the biggest problem?

What's the one that we could solve? I'm not saying it's going to be perfect, but I'm saying here's what we got to do and we better start in the kitchen. We better start in the grocery store. And we better start with that.

We need our kids to understand that. Otherwise, we've got the elephant in the room and we are not fixing anything. We put a bandaid on it and hope that it goes away. Not going away, guys.

It's not going away. Like I said, I'm a result guy. In my clinic, I had to get results. If someone A1C was 6, 6.5 or whatever, you're going to do this diet.

You're going to thank me later. We're going to get all your biomarkers for metabolic syndrome and we're going to fix them. And it's going to be you. It starts with you and the choices you make.

Eat this, don't eat that. Start there. Is it easy? No.

You're surrounded by bad choices. It's in front of you 24 and 7. The media is against you. The world is against you.

Medicine is against you, generally. They don't mean to be. They're so fixated on cholesterol, they're fixated on it. They're fixated on viruses and bacteria.

They're fixated on it. And what do we have today? What's the result in Canada? 10,000 bucks a year for every individual in Canada.

That's what it costs us to put band-aids on anything. Look guys, again, okay, don't come after me. You get in a car accident, don't call me. I used to tell my patients that.

You get in a car accident, well, you can call me and tell me you got in a car accident and I'll pray for you. I said, you don't want me if you got a car accident. I used to laugh. I said, you want my son-in-law.

He's an emergency physician. He'll save your life if you can. You don't want to call me other than for prayer and because I love you, okay? But when it comes to the elephant in the room, the metabolic syndrome, that's at the root of everything we're talking about today.

Call me because I'll tell you what to do. And we can prove it. There's tens of thousands of people, okay? I was telling Tony Jr.

there, our private Facebook group, Martin Clinic, we're at 100,000 followers just on Facebook. They get the memo. They get the memo. Does that mean you'll never get sick?

No. But it's self-care. Healthcare ought to be self-care. First, because of the elephant in the room.

True or false? Self-care. And guys, I know I'm preaching to the choir this morning. I know you guys get the memo.

You got it. You got it. You got it. You got it.

This is why you listen. This is why I'm passionate about teaching. Passionate about it. I see myself in the mirror and I look and say, hey, hey, twylo, you know, in good French, like listen, Linda, pointing at myself.

Listen, Linda, eat this. Don't eat that. As much as possible. Okay?

As much as possible. Okay. I thought I'd bring this up today because there's a big Senate hearing in the United States. It's in the news.

And I want to scream, not at Dr. Fauci. I want to scream at the world. You're missing the pie.

You're missing the pie. Okay. What's Friday? Q&A.

Q&A. Okay. So send your questions in to info at martinclinic.com. Okay.

Okay. I got excited again today. I can't help myself. Okay.

Okay. Love you guys. Talk to you soon.
