A Doctor's Take: 7 Hormone Myths That Keep Women Tired, Heavy, and Dismissed

Tired. Heavy. Foggy. And told everything was “fine.” You didn't fail — you were just told the wrong things.

Hey, it's Dr. Martin here.

Back when I was in practice, I saw the same woman ten thousand times. Different face. Same story.

Tired. Heavy. Foggy. And told everything was “fine.”

She didn't fail.

She was just told the wrong things.

Here are seven of them.

Myth1

“My bloodwork is normal, so I'm fine.”

“Normal” doesn't mean working.

Bloodwork is a wide net. With big holes.

You can be exhausted and foggy… and slip right through it.

You're not crazy. You were measured with the wrong ruler.

Myth2

“If I just fix my thyroid, I'll feel like myself.”

The thyroid is a puppet. Lots of strings.

Cortisol is the king hormone. When the king runs high… it slows the thyroid right back down. You fix one string. The other two yank it back.

It was never just your thyroid.

Myth3

“My weight gain is just willpower.”

No.

You can eat clean, walk every day, do everything right… and the scale won't budge. That's not weakness. That's a body stuck in survival mode.

You can't willpower your way out of broken hormones.

Myth4

“Being tired all the time is just getting older.”

I don't buy it.

Tired after a bad night is normal. Tired for three years is not.

Exhaustion isn't a birthday. It's a signal.

Somebody just taught you to ignore it.

Myth5

“My sleep problem and my weight problem are separate.”

They're the same problem.

Wired at night. Dragging all day. Weight creeping on.

One root. Three faces.

Cortisol up… thyroid down… hormones scrambled. Around and around it goes.

Myth6

“It's just menopause. Nothing I can do.”

That's the one that costs you years.

Menopause isn't a wall you wait behind.

Your thyroid, your stress, your hormones still have to work together. At every age. There's plenty you can do. Starting today.

Myth7

“I've tried supplements. They don't work for me.”

You tried one.

One pill for one piece of a three-piece problem.

Of course it stalled. You were fixing one corner of a triangle… while the other two pulled it down.

You didn't try the wrong thing. You tried one third of the right thing.

That's the difference.
